The First Step

This outfit combination is probably one of my favourites. Ever. I’ve always been a huge fan of mixing different styles of clothing, especially the girly with the masculine. This floral dress was purchased last year, after I saw Miley Cyrus (one of my many girl crushes) wearing it in a magazine. I did some research and discovered that it was a Minkpink dress. I have found that their pieces are always amazing quality, and for this reason I was willing to do some serious research and hunting so that I could have it for myself. It took me a while to find it as it was sold out everywhere, but I was pleasantly surprised when it popped up on ASOS one day. Persistence pays off, people!

I picked up the camouflage green jacket from H&M whilst I was away in America earlier this year. It was perfect for all throughout autumn, and was even more perfect for the last few days of winter. These pictures were taken on the first day of spring – and what a glorious day it was! My boyfriend, Pat, lives in Lugarno on the Georges River. His wharf is probably one of my favourite spots to come to for relaxation time. I’m really excited for the warmer weather so that we can come down here more often. I’ve seriously missed it!

The white panelling on this dress is so floaty and fun. I feel like I need to be constantly twirling and spinning around whenever I wear it! I have lots of fond memories in this dress from last summer, and wearing it makes the anticipation for the months to come even more intense. Beach days, afternoons spent by the swimming pool, getting some much needed vitamin D – I can’t wait!

The ring that I am wearing holds a very special place in my heart. It is an Irish Claddagh ring, and it represents love, loyalty and friendship. It was given to me as a gift by Pat, and it has been pretty much glued to my finger ever since! I bought one for him to wear too. We’re pretty cheesy like that, but I honestly wouldn’t have it any other way.

As you may have noticed, I’m a bit of a sucker for red lipstick. I definitely inherited that trait from my grandma, Maureen. It was one of her favourite past times (and mine too) to put lipstick on me when I was little. I don’t have a single memory of her where she wasn’t wearing some herself! Old habits die hard I guess. The necklace I’m wearing was a 21st birthday present from my lovely cousins. It has definitely become a new favourite. Another favourite is my bracelet from Tiffany and Co. which was also a 21st gift, purchased with birthday money. I was seriously spoilt this year!

I had my eye on these Steve Madden boots late last year, and managed to snatch them up when I was overseas. The zipper down the inside makes them ridiculously easy to get on and off, and their sturdy soles survived the icy streets of Manhattan. I should probably also mention that they are amazingly comfortable. What more could you want from a pair of shoes? They were definitely worth every penny! I may or may not have come back home with a whole extra suitcase full of clothes, shoes and cosmetics from America. And it’s also highly possible that Pat and I had to purchase space bags to fit everything we bought into our suitcases… And we may have had to post some things home too… Don’t tell anyone!

I hope you have enjoyed reading this post as much as I enjoyed writing it. It really is a wonderful thing to finally have a place where I can let my creative side run wild and free. I’m really looking forward to sharing many more of my adventures on here. Until next time!
